HORTICULTURE COMMITTEE - DEALING WITH DRY TIMES
- Mulch, mulch, mulch, as it goes a long way in keeping the moisture in the ground. - Deadhead perennials so the plant won't produce seeds that aren't needed.
- Make sure your beds are weeded. Don't waste water on weeds. - Water shrubs and trees (especially newly planted) to protect your investment. This is also important if we experience a dry winter. - Water at night when temperatures are cooler. This will reduce evaporation and provide water when the plants are actively taking in moisture.

BOG GARDEN WORK DAY
It was a cleanup mission…trying to uncover the good plants from the grass, vines and weeds. It is an ominous task fighting with Mother Nature! Missing from photo are Melinda Frierson and Ruth Wadlington. Submitted by Dana Harris
It is with a heavy heart that I share this news. Anne Copenhaver's husband, Andy, passed away on Thursday. Anne, as you know, is our former GCA President, and she just finished her term at the end of June. She is a member of the Twin City Garden Club in Winston Salem. Anne is a very special person in her club, as well as in our Zone and in the GCA. Below is a link to the obituary. Andy was quite an accomplished individual and beloved husband and father. Please keep Anne in your thoughts.
