New & Noteworthy

Wise words seen at Chelsea Flower Show

We will once again be collecting flowers and greens to drop off at UVa Hospital for arrangements that are given to patients. This is such a wonderful opportunity to have the bounty of your garden put a smile on someone's face. Please bring your plant material to Cindy Schutt's home and place in buckets on her back porch. GCV Field Day

If you signed up for GCV Field Day, we will be meeting at the 29 and 64 Park and Ride at 7:45am. The drive is 1 hour and 30 minutes so we will depart promptly at 8am! Below is a map indicating the Park and Ride. Registration is open until May 31st - so there is still time to sign up. Go to GCV website for registration.

I will be collecting/receiving lilies Monday June 18th. We need lilies from the collections from 2006-2015.They need to be correctly named and identified with the collection year. I will receive in town at my office 1415 Rolkin Court Suite 301 Charlottesville 22911. A spike of lilies is in BEST condition when the lower flowers are open but not faded and the upper ones are still in bud. The flowers should not be bleached from the sun or wilted and be free of disease and injury( especially deer chomping). The stems should be straight so staking, deer spray and fertilizing now is important. Anthers should be present. Pictures of all the years collections can be found on the GCV website links.
