"Back to Nature"with the Garden Club of Virginia. The 2-day event at Natural Bridge State Park opens Tuesday, September 24 with a Horticulture show focused on native plants, shrubs and trees and organized by the GCV Horticulture Committee, including our very own Fran Carden and Kim Cory. There is still time to enter! Wednesday, September 25 is the 61st Annual Conservation Forum – Trees: Canopy of Conservation. This popular event includes four speakers who will present a broad range of topics relating trees that benefit of our environment. Pre-registration required for the Conservation Forum.  $35 admission includes continental breakfast.

Blue ribbon won by Lake Bassett for her "Hokey Pokey" entry in the Artistic Division

The Nature Conservancy of Virginia has invited us to be their guests for a tour of the Virginia Coast Reserve on the Southern Delmarva Peninsula, October 10-11. There are a few more spaces available. The trip includes dinner and a stay at the historic Brownsville House, an early morning birding walk and a boat tour of oyster reefs and other TNC projects. Contact Carol Hunter, if interested.

Conservation News: The Reviving America's Scenic Byways Act of 2019 passed the Senate on September 10—unanimously! It should be noted that GCA members helped found Scenic America (the non-profit promoting this legislation) and have continued the fight to keep America's scenic vistas protected.  This is a perfect example of where our advocacy efforts have made a difference.
