Please continue collecting all those seeds that are spilling out of our flowers, herbs, and even trees this summer and save them for our Hort Chairs Alexandra and Leslie to take to the Shirley Meneice Conference this September. They will set up a collection basket at Leslie Harris’s home on her front porch from Friday, August 30th to Saturday September 7th. Please give as much information as you can about the plant. Name, cultivation tips, germinating instructions. The seeds will be placed in individual coin envelopes and labeled for sharing at the conference. Some additional plants that are shedding their seeds now: hollyhocks, cosmos, love-in-a-mist, Siberian iris, euphorbias, dill, fennel, rose campion and baptisia. Seed harvesting should be done on a dry and sunny day. Once seedpods have changed from green to brown and can be easily split, you can begin collecting flower seeds. Save some seeds for the AGC fall seed exchange too! For any questions, contact Alexandra Shirley. Leslie's address: 2107 Minor Road. Thank you!!
Next Year's Committee Sign-Ups: Be on the look out for a very important Sign-Up Genius with a list of committees that you can sign-up for. This is your opportunity to pick the committee you want to serve on. If you are already on a committee, you still will need to sign up to be on this year's list.
Just for Fun: Please send me or Claire photographs from your summer travels, or your garden, or anything relevant you think would be fun to share, like my tiger swallowtail on right.
